I had AMD Summit today and an investor event afterwards. As I was walking out I saw the bus roll by and I was like yay I guess I’m walking. Luckily it was only 20 min downhill to the subway but I had that crazy endo attack the day before and it was unusually hot and I never want to go to anything but staying home just feeds my social anxiety so FINEEEE. My friends will hear about this! *shakes fist* Seriously, I’m always like “See how much I love you I’m going outside for you” and I’ll send a pic of myself frowning at an event to my team. I did this in front of this guy one time and he was watching me take a selfie and I’m frowning while he’s standing me behind in line watching the entire thing on my phone screen and I immediately awkwardly apologized and then thought it was too long to explain the why and abandoned the explanation halfway through and he said it was fine but we were in line for this robot bar and I was next and the robot spilt half my drink and see the karma train came fast that day. Later at that same event though I got to take fun pictures with a somewhat borrowed-without-asking crown and convinced two other people to do it with me too with another crown so I don’t know maybe I don’t know how karma works. Especially since these are all unrelated.
Anyway.
I didn’t get $300 of fancy face creams (thanks a lot endo) but I did get a fancy notebook and a tiny stuffy that looks like a chicken. They had a snack bar where all the snack dispensers were high behind this giant ass counter and I went to the side of the counter for trail mix but the gummy bears were in the middle of the counter so my friend tried to get them for me but it was also too far for him and he was struggling so the guy next to him offered to do it for him and then the bears got stuck. IT WAS AN ENTIRE ORDEAL but the guy was like NO WE ARE GETTING THESE BEARS and theres was a whole ass line forming and then I ended up with too many bears and I snuck one into Phil’s cup but I had to eat all of them because it was an epic journey and they were like monster sized bears which was probably why they were BEARly coming out. HA HA.
Cisco had a booth and an ultra long time ago, like in practically another century, I designed and built a self-service segmented Excel sales dashboard for the UCS racks for their first post LDoS support program and here I am over a decade later looking at their great-great-grandchildren (I actually don’t know how many iterations it’s been since then so I’m not sure how many greats should be in there). The compression density is insane because of all the AI stuff but maybe it just looks like that to me now because I hadn’t seriously looked at a Cisco rack since 2013? Also YOOOOO the AMD/Cisco mashup is MODULAR, HOW COOL IS THAT??? When the guy told me I think he saw actual stars fall out of my eyes. But I love simplicity and reduction of friction and ease of adoption I think maybe more than the average person.
I had to dip for my next event and as I was walking to the bus stop I saw the bus pass right by me. If you are new here I tend to have weird parking payment issues. Like either I can’t find a working machine or the app is having issues, like what. I guess since I didn’t have to park today the universe was like “Why don’t you watch all the buses go by you instead?” which honestly, for some reason seems very amusing lol.
Some guy wanted to get dinner afterwards and me and my friend were like fuck that and left. I got home just in time to do bedtime stories with my kid and have him go through all my pockets for stickers. One time though, he took a bunch of stickers and put them in my nightgown pocket but they weren’t swag stickers.
They were his new Pokémon stickers.
Excuse me while I go cry over some stickers.
Times I saw my bus going by me: 2
Minutes waiting for the guy to stop putting gummy bears into a cup while a decently sized line grew behind him: Eternity
Times I remembered I have the best kid ever: All of them
