My new friend invited me to get a dosa with him and another friend and we spent an entire lunch eating way too much and talking about AGI. I had already asked him a billion questions before so naturally I had a billion more.

It’s interesting, while everyone is jumping on the agentic hype train my friend is on the other side of the future. I mean it still takes time to develop and adopt but once you know something is possible, now all kinds of doors can open, and close.

I think about defensibility and what would make the best companies survive this. Every hype cycle a ton of companies die and we’re seeing entire ecosystems rise and react to AI. A lot of things will become obsolete and a lot of things will be noise and eventually pass.

I think about how people are scared of the unknown but also scared of the known which is part of what makes them scared of the unknown.

I think about how the scariest part of new technology is people. People are the bad actors right now and now they’re going to have new technology. That’s a much more immediate threat since that is ever present and right now, and then imagine things like election interference and fraud with explosive scale and infinite retries.

I think about what it must mean for world that we are focused so much on AI solutions instead of how do we distribute food worldwide so that everyone can eat or what if we threw all our energy into climate solutions or even how did we get here and how can we make sure we don’t end up here again and how maybe maybe maybe if we helped more people out then they wouldn’t need to be in survival mode so much and feel the need to try to extract so much from other people?

I think about what it would take for the world to look at different problems.

I think about how lucky I am to build things and still learn so many things from so many people.
