Happy Pi(e) day! This guy I had been talking to forever (like actual years) was like “Imma roll up on pi day” but when the day came I had to be at this workshop so we met up near there instead. It ended up working out better bc instead of driving for an hour or whatever he just had to drive 15 minutes. Natalie and I live far and class started at 8 am tomorrow. Natalie has a meeting tomorrow morning and I was like eff that, a hotel seemed easier than waking up at 6 AM after being out late.
Today we had lunch catered and at the end I was like “OH SHIT are they going to throw all of that out?” I lowkey panicked and asked the director if I could pack it and give it to some homeless people. Natalie and I ended up packing 10 boxes. I texted my date, “Hey can we deliver a bunch of food for homeless people today?” and then sent him a photo of said boxes. Obviously he said yes, what kind of asshole would say no.
Since this was my first time meeting him my friends hung around to make sure he wasn’t a murderer. I felt bad that they were waiting around and my friend said, “No way, this is the first time we’ve laughed like this all day!” My date got completely lost so while he was wandering around campus my friends were like what does he look like? And I had to tell them years ago some rando with a blurry pic on Tinder super liked me and usually I’m like meh, but I think it said he was a math major and I was like oh, hmmm interesting. My friend pulled me aside and was like, “Hey, if you see someone with a blurry picture you swipe left on them right away” and I laughed, and he said, “No I’m serious, I work in cybersecurity.” I told him, “Thanks Dad!” but he’s right though. Luckily I got banned from Tinder years ago and then turns out I’m actually allergic to dating apps and a decent amount of the people in them so that’s the end of that.
When my date finally showed up he took the box that held all the boxes of food and we went to the hotel. Yesterday it was $131 and I wondered if it would be cheaper tomorrow since it’s the last day, like they might as well right? Anyway this morning it was $144 and was like FUCK, and then somehow after 12 it turned into $149 so I thought I better try rolling the dice in person. When I got there the guy said, “Oh I think it’s actually expensive today because of some event, oh it’s only $149, that’s not too bad” to which I replied, “Is there anything we can do about that?” and he knocked off $23.
We asked the front desk guy where we could find some homeless people to give food too and he said there aren’t much but on a super rare occasion they will be at the train station, so to try there. As we were walking there there was a train museum but the sign said they were only open until 4 on Saturdays. As we got closer though they looked open so I was like, “OMG CAN WE GO TO THIS?” and it was soooooo cute and cool, they had a tiny model train in the back like an old timey scene from back in the day and the burgers were only 5 cents, lol. The only thing was the trains weren’t running but I think it’s because they were technically closed but they said the weather was so nice that they decided to keep it open for a while longer. Good thing too, because it was probably like 6 when we rolled in. As we were rolling out my date put $20 into the donation box. THIS GUY IS SO NICE ISTG.
We walked all over the station but we couldn’t find anyone but when we went back to the hotel the front desk person said they would take some for the housecleaning staff. SUCCESS!
My date found this steak burger place he wanted to try and then some ice cream taco place he had heard about which was actually right by campus. He’s really into sports and they had two basketball games playing and poker on a tv outside. I don’t really watch anything and I haven’t seen a basketball game in I don’t even know how long, but the game was exciting at least and went into double overtime, so that was kind of cool. He got a double and for some reason I was thinking of In-and-Out’s double double so I upgraded mine too. When they rolled up it was absolutely not In-and-Out sized and I was like wtf. He said he was surprised I ordered that and but it’s because I thought I was ordering two patties not the equivalent of 7. I managed to finish it, which was impressive, and full of regret lol. It was really good though but the balance of meat and bread is different with fatty patties like that.
After that we went to the taco ice cream place. There was a wait which was good actually because I was still recovering from the steak burger place. They would stuff a taco with ice cream, dip it in chocolate and put toppings on it and freeze it with liquid nitrogen. It was fun! I would totally get another taco ice cream.
