I love DATA.
I LOVE IT.
Like, my dream is to have a giant Scrooge McDuck type vault but instead of all the money in Duckberg I’d be drowning in data.
I wonder if engineers hide in code the same way I hide in data. Like sorry I missed your event/birthday/date/life, I had to hide in some data.
Anyway.
A couple days ago my engineer and I were working on something and around 3AM, which is founder time for “you should go to sleep but maybe work on this more instead,” when we had a disagreement and I realized he’s not going to see the same downstream effects I’m going to see because he’s not in those spaces. After I explained what I was looking at he apologized and the next day he came with a list of things we need with regards to my concerns, which was pretty cool. We did a downstream knowledge transfer for our respective areas which will make future decisions faster. That’s one thing is when your team is ultra ultra tiny, you can show someone how these tiny changes affect things everywhere and you can do it in minutes. When you’re at big companies everyone is siloed and they just complain about how the other team is stupid and doesn’t know anything. Disagreements are inevitable, but the ways, tone, and speed in which you resolve them are what can make or break you here. Oh, and also, maybe don’t have discussions at 3AM.
A long way to tell you that I finally got the data I wanted and of course now it’s 3:21AM which like I said is founder time for you should go to sleep but this time I will because honestly it took me three hours to write this because I kept going back and forth and playing with it and it’s so silly and giggly but my ADHD was getting the better of me and I was trying so hard to finish it so I could just focus on the data, but can you blame me? DATA [heart_eyes] LOL
Datasets completed today: 1
Board games played: 1
Frangipane Tart: 1
Times I said the word data: Too many to count
Times I laughed about having data: Too many to count
